State Farm Release Paths
State Farm Correctional Center is an active Virginia Department of Corrections facility. It is not a county jail, and placement there does not mean the person was arrested in Powhatan County. A State Farm departure can mean release to the community, a move to probation or parole supervision, or transfer to another VADOC institution. Only the first two paths take the person out of prison custody. The locator’s location, release-date information, and supervisee result help identify the path, while the release order or letter is the stronger final record.
VADOC describes actual facility release as the point when the inmate leaves its custody. State procedure may involve an approved pickup or arranged public transportation, and VADOC says discharge or parole release is completed by 11:59 p.m. on the release date, weather permitting. That state rule belongs to VADOC facilities only. It should not be applied to Pamunkey Regional Jail or used as a guaranteed pickup time for one person.

It is not promised as a permanent archive for every fully discharged person. Search with the seven-digit inmate ID when possible because names can match more than one person.

- Open the correct record and preserve the live labels for location and release date.
- Compare the date with the final sentencing order, jail credit, and any later court action.
- If the person is fully inactive and no result remains, request the historical release record from VADOC.
A locator change from State Farm to another prison is not release. A supervisee result means the person has left prison but remains under VADOC Community Corrections. District 7 serves Powhatan, though the person’s assigned district can depend on the approved home plan. VADOC publishes Form 17, Request for Records, for inactive offenders. A focused request may seek the notification-of-release letter or order, release or discharge date and type, time-computation summary, and an existing identifying photograph if releasable. Active-offender requests should follow VADOC routing to the maintaining warden, superintendent, unit manager, or district chief.
Virginia FOIA permits actual reasonable costs. No fixed fee for this precise State Farm release packet was found, so ask for an advance estimate. The normal response period under Virginia Code § 2.2-3704 is five working days, with a possible notice of up to seven more working days where allowed. A response may produce records, cite a withholding, provide part, invoke the extension, or state that the requested record cannot be found.
State Farm’s VADOC Role
State Farm Correctional Center sits in Powhatan County, but its legal and records system is statewide. That distinction prevents a common search error. The Pamunkey roster is for local and regional jail custody, while the VADOC locator is for state inmates and supervisees. A Powhatan arrest can later lead into VADOC, but State Farm also holds people whose cases began in other Virginia localities.
The public research confirms the facility’s active status, address, phone, and state operator. It does not provide a reliable facility capacity or local annual release count, so no unsupported figure is used. Current facility conditions, visiting rules, and program assignments can also change. Those operational details do not prove release and should remain separate from the person’s locator status, time computation, and release documents.
State Farm Release Documents
VADOC’s release process creates records that may remain useful after a fully inactive person drops from the public locator. The person receives a notification-of-release letter and reviews or signs the applicable Order of Release, Conditions of Probation, or Conditions of Parole. These documents separate a final discharge from a release that begins community supervision. They can also identify the terms and office that govern the next phase.
A court sentence sets the legal framework, but VADOC computes the active state term, applies eligible credits, accounts for jail credit, and responds to later legal changes. A projected date can move after credit loss or restoration, a new sentence, detainer, appeal, or corrected calculation. For that reason, compare the public date with the final order and the most recent VADOC release document. An old screenshot should not outrank a current agency record.

State Farm Release Date Changes
VADOC generally computes active state-responsible terms longer than 12 months. The calculation starts with the court’s active sentence and includes qualifying credit for prior confinement, concurrent or consecutive sentence structure, the rules tied to the offense date, and the person’s credit-earning status. Later court orders, new sentences, detainers, and corrected jail-credit certificates can alter the result.
Virginia’s earned sentence credit rules do not produce one safe percentage for all prisoners. Enumerated offenses may be capped at 4.5 credit days for each 30 days served, while other eligible offenses can use different levels under the statute. Loss or restoration of credits also matters. The date shown for one State Farm inmate should never be copied as a rule for another person.

Powhatan Supervision After Release
When a State Farm record changes to community supervision, Petersburg District 7 is the VADOC probation and parole office listed as serving Powhatan. Its address is 6 Brasfield Parkway, Petersburg, VA 23805, and its phone is 804-524-6542. The assigned office shown in the locator or release papers controls, especially when the approved home plan points outside Powhatan County.
Parole and probation are not interchangeable. Parole is conditional release from prison for a person who qualifies under Virginia law. Probation is imposed by a court and can follow a suspended sentence or active term. The Virginia Parole Board handles discretionary parole decisions, while VADOC Community Corrections supervises state parolees and felony probationers. Read the order instead of guessing from the fact that someone left State Farm.
State Farm Holds and Transfers
A detainer or another sentence can block or redirect an expected release. State Farm may complete one institution’s processing while another lawful custodian assumes control. The VADOC locator, release order, and receiving agency must be reconciled before calling that event a community discharge. An ICE detainer is one possible case-specific branch, but no source supports treating it as routine at State Farm.
ICE says a detainer may request advance notice and up to 48 additional hours so it can take custody. If individual records identify that event, use the ICE locator for current immigration detention and preserve the state record showing when VADOC custody ended. Likewise, a federal transfer requires the federal case or agency path. Release from VADOC does not by itself prove freedom from all custody or supervision.
